Your day begins in the charming Georgian town of Alresford, the starting point of the famous Mid Hants Railway. After arrival, you’ll have some free time to explore Alresford — browse the independent shops, enjoy a stroll by the river, or relax with a coffee in one of the pretty tearooms.

Later, board the heritage train for a return journey between Alresford and Alton, travelling through ten miles of unspoilt countryside. Sit back and soak up the nostalgia as you pass quaint rural stations such as Ropley and Medstead & Four Marks, often with the chance to see locomotives being serviced or restored.

During your train ride, you’ll be served a delicious Ploughman’s lunch on board, featuring traditional local produce — a perfect accompaniment to this leisurely journey through Hampshire’s “Watercress Country”.
