Hidden Hertfordshire Lunch and Guided Cruise from The Waterside Inn

We begin our day by arriving at the Waterside Inn in Ware for a hearty two course lunch.

After lunch you will board your boat directly from the restaurants own riverside terrace to embark on a fully guided cruise through the hidden Hertfordshire countryside before returning to Ware Town Quay next to the historic Ware Priory.

The popular Waterbus cruises along the picturesque flood plains of the River Lee, we will be cruising past Stanstead Marina, Amwell Nature Reserve and onto Ware where you will see the riverside pubs with their unique historic gazebos overhanging the river.

The River Lee has an abundance of wildlife, on route  you will also pass through original working locks.  

 

Sit back and relax, enjoying a peaceful cruise, there is a fully licensed bar on board with a range of drinks to purchase.

Main: 

• Hunter’s Chicken (GF without onion rings)
  Grilled chicken breast topped with streaky bacon, cheese and BBQ sauce served with chunky chips, onion rings, peas and a dressed salad.

• Hand-Battered Fish & Chips
  Cooked until golden and crispy, served with tartare sauce and creamy minted peas.

• Sausage & Mash (GF)

  Award winning sausages served with buttery chive mashed potato, braised red cabbage, rich beef gravy and red onion chutney.

  Vegetarian sausage and mash option also available (V, GF)

• Veggie Caesar Salad (V, GF without croutons)
  Crispy coated buttermilk-style Quorn fillet with croutons, baby gem lettuce and a Caesar dressing

• Butternut Squash Ravioli (VG)
  With tomato and herb sauce, mushrooms, truffle oil and a herb crumb.

 

Dessert:

• Crumble of the Day (V, GF)
  Today’s flavour of classic crumble served with a jug of creamy custard. Vegan option available (VG)

• Chocolate Brownie (V, GF)
  With Belgian chocolate sauce, toasted marshmallows, salted caramel sauce and Lotus Biscoff biscuit crumbs, served with a red cherry compote and vanilla ice cream.

• Signature Sticky Toffee Sponge (V)
  Served with salted caramel sauce and a jug of custard. (VG) when served toffee sauce with dairy-free custard.

• Vanilla ice cream (V, GF) or Vanilla non-dairy ice cream (V, VG, GF)

  Simple ice cream on its own.
