The Clink Charity is now in its 14th year of achieving stellar results and has one of the lowest reoffending rates in the UK. The delicious, high-quality meals at The Clink Restaurant are cooked and served by the students in training. Situated in the old governors house dating back to 1819, the restaurant allows the students to learn, engage with the public and take their first steps towards a new life. All the leather upholstery and boardroom tables are made by people in prison at HMP Frankland. All diners must bring their photo ID.
You will be subject to routine searching. This would be similar to what you might expect in an airport.
You must bring original Photo ID, i.e. driving licence, passports or Freedom Passes. (No photocopies or pictures of ID are allowed)
Guests are advised to bring as little as possible. There
is an opportunity to lock away personal items, but there is
limited storage space.
You will only be allowed to bring in, one bank card, a
jacket, prescribed medication (limited quantity and only if
needed during visit) and your locker key)
Farleigh Coaches must submit names and information to HMP Brixton in advance of the visit.
The following items are not allowed into the prison at any time;
Mobile phones / SIM cards / chargers / Laptops or IT equipment / Cameras / Airpods / Headphones
FitBits / Apple Watches / Smartwatches
Tissues / Handkerchiefs / loose paper / receipts / train tickets
USB or any other storage device
Lipsticks / Lipbalm
Drugs / tobacco/ e-cigarettes / lighters
Scissors, knives or any other sharp objects
Chewing gum
Aerosols
Handbags
Umbrellas
We recommend to only bring your debit/credit card, necessary prescribed medication and a jacket or coat into the prison.
Please ensure you are dressed appropriately to enter the restaurants. The prison can refuse entry if guests do not adhere to the dress code.
Tops must be sufficient to cover the chest and the midriff area and must not be transparent.
Undergarments must be worn. Athletic singlets (vests) are not permitted
Hats may not be worn in the prison, with the exception of religious headwear. These will be subject to searching as per HMP Brixtons searching policy.
Hooded tops may be worn, but not with the hood up.
Torn or ripped jeans with any holes are not permitted
Dresses, skirts and shorts must reach the knee in the standing position; high cut shorts are not permitted
Gloves and scarves may not be worn.
Footwear must be enclosed. No Sandals or Flip-flops.
Clothing with any logos connected to a sporting team or with offensive patterns or logos (such as cannabis leaves or offensive language) may not be worn by visitors.
Clothing with electronic devices fitted are not permitted, (such as light up Christmas jumpers).
These restrictions must be adhered to. You will be denied entry if;
-you have not followed the dress code
-you do not have the correct ID
-you have arrived late for your booking
-you show up intoxicated
-you are aggressive or abusive to staff
Farleigh Coaches will not accept responsibility if you fail to adhere to HMP Brixtons rules and regulations.
You can pay using a debit or credit card (including Amex) at Brixton. You can also pay by gift vouchers. Cash is not accepted.
Your meal will be cooked and served by prisoners training towards gaining their accredited qualifications. Please feel free to ask them questions about their training and hopes for the future. By dining with us, you are giving them a valuable learning experience.
Please note that our restaurants do not serve alcohol as they are training environments within a working prison. Do ask your waiters about our non-alcoholic cocktails.
Whilst you may be familiar with recognising good service by leaving a tip, the unique position of our restaurants means this is not possible when dining at The Clink. Instead, we would ask you to consider contributing a similar sum to support us in our charitable work in changing attitudes, transforming lives and creating second chances by leaving a donation.
You can bring your everyday belongings such as your phone, wallet, etc. However, this will not enter the establishment. There will be an opportunity to put your belongings away into a locker when you are signed in. Please note, we have limited locker space. We ask everyone to bring only what is necessary
