Follow in the footsteps of William Wordsworth as we explore the stunning Lake District. Wordsworth was inspired by the beauty and grandeur of this National Park and you can witness the same spectacular sights on our tour of Cumbria which includes two lake cruises, a railway journey and a distillery tour with a tasting.

Day 1 – Monday:

We travel to our hotel in Cumbria.

Day 2 - Tuesday:

We start today by taking a scenic drive past Lake Windermere, Thirlmere Reservoir then Bassenthwaite Lake to the Lakes Distillery where a tour and tasting of their own whisky, gin or vodka awaits. After, we spend some time at leisure in Keswick, which is surrounded by some of the area’s highest and most beautiful peaks. This afternoon, we spend some time in Grasmere, before returning to our hotel in time for dinner.

Day 3 - Wednesday:

A leisurely morning beginning with a short heritage rail journey from Haverthwaite to Lakeside. No visit to the Lake District would be complete without a cruise, and it is from here you will sail across Lake Windermere to Bowness. After disembarking, explore this popular holiday village at leisure. There are cafes, restaurants, shops and places to visit, such as the World of Beatrix Potter attraction. We rejoin the coach here, and head back to our hotel with time to freshen up before our evening meal.

Day 4 - Thursday:

This morning, we head North towards Lake Ullswater for another relaxing cruise on England’s most beautiful lake, Ullswater. On then to the Cumbrian town of Penrith, rich in history and hub of the Eden Valley. This afternoon, spend time in Ambleside and see Waterhead, where sweeping views across Lake Windermere and fells cannot be missed.

Day 5 - Friday:

It’s time to check out and head home, with suitable comfort stops on route.

The Riverside Hotel Kendal

A converted 18th Century tannery, the hotel is situated on the banks of the River Kent, beneath the ruins of the town’s 12 century castle. A short walk away is the centre of this famous Lake District market town with its bustling shops, galleries and museums. The hotel has a leisure club, with a pool, hot tub and gym. There is also a lift that travels to most rooms.
